IC-M2A is an ideal choice for a family use radio. All features

AA size battery tray holds alkaline batteries, which typically
store a charge for 2 years or longer.

IC-M2A is an ideal radio for everyday use. The included rechargeable
battery can be recharged whether its attached to the radio
or not. Use the included AA size battery tray to power your
IC-M2A while the main battery recharges. You can charge the
battery at home, or you can option to recharge your radio
while in a car or in the boat.

IC-M2A is an ideal radio to carry around with you. The through-the-bottom
mounted battery runs up the spine of the IC-M2A, for a nicely
weighted feel. For carrying on a belt, the IC-M2A sports a
new carrying clip design: Fast and easy to attach to a belt,
the IC-M2A swings in the clip's cradle as you move.
